An excellent book on the logistics of becoming a professional recording musician, from the ground up. It was kind of alien to start at the end of things (marketing your recording and yourself) and work backwards, but on the other hand, it made perfect sense. You want to have your marketing plan in place to build your fanbase BEFORE you spend the outlay to begin recording.
About the only downside to this book was that even though this is the most recent edition, it was last published in 1999 — and a LOT has happened to the recording scene since then. There are computer programs now and electronic equipment that you can buy for yourself that would rival what many studios have.
However! This book is definitely a good place to start! 🙂
