It seems my latest story project wants to be a novella instead. Just like “Crown of Thorns” (now optioned by Drollerie). Just like “Collecting Dreams.” Just like “Demon’s Music” (waiting to be finished).

Just like the countless others.

Does anyone else notice this trend? Or am I dreaming?

I suppose this means I’m going to have to revise my resolution to write “one story a month.” Maybe make it “write three — or four — novellas a year”? And to Hell with all the “novellas don’t sell” crap? (Requiem, did, after all, win Top Ten Young Adult Book for 2009, and is selling like hotcakes over at Echelon…)

  1. See, it goes from short story, to novella, to a complete novel. You’ll see! LoL But I love that you write short stories. Not enough people do.

    1. It may very well. Who knows? 🙂

I like short stories too. They’re like those bite-sized brownies you can buy at the grocery store… a tasty, excellent snack, poised to fit between everything else in your day! 😀

Novellas are cool though. And I’ve always admired the form — melds the conciseness of the story with the scope of the novel… The first ones I tried didn’t go over so well, however, but maybe my subconscious is trying to tell me that I’m a good enough writer now, to tackle them. 🙂

      I’m excited about this one.
